The Certificate in School Library Media - Teacher Certification offers the opportunity to gain initial certification as a teacher in Connecticut. This program welcomes both mid-career professionals seeking a career change and recent graduates with an interest in teaching and school libraries. Currently school library media specialists are a designated shortage area in Connecticut, and employment opportunities are available in both high needs, urban and suburban districts. The teacher certification may be combined with dual enrollment in the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program.
